Navjot Singh Sidhu withdraws his resignation as Punjab Congress chief

Ground Report | New Delhi: Navjot Singh Sidhu Congress; Senior Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has today withdrawn his decision to resign from the post of state president of Punjab Congress. Navjot Singh Sidhu was made the chief of the Punjab Congress Committee on July 19 this year.

But he left the post after disagreeing with the selection of ministers and bureaucrats of Charanjit Singh Channi, who became the Chief Minister after Captain Amarinder Singh stepped down. But in a press conference in Chandigarh, Sidhu clearly said that he will take charge only when a new Attorney General is appointed in Punjab.

Navjot Singh Sidhu also attacked the current DGP of Punjab Inder Preet Sahota and said that he had given a clean chit to the people in the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. Sidhu also targeted the Attorney General of Punjab. He also said that posts do not matter in the path of truth.

In recent times, there have been signs of tension in the relationship between Sidhu and CM Channi. Today he was asked questions on this too. He said, “I have been talking to him for the last one month. The first meeting was held at Punjab Bhawan when everything was said to be fine in a week. This is a 90-day government and has completed 50 days."

Sidhu further said, “There is nothing personal in this. I talk to him about the interest of the state. I talk to him about all that we can do for Punjab. I have no differences with Charanjit Channi. Whatever I do, I do for Punjab. Punjab is my soul. That's my goal." There has been a lot of turmoil in the politics of Punjab in the last few months. Sidhu has withdrawn his resignation but is still adamant about the removal of the Attorney General.

"During the last 4.5 years, I have raised many issues such as liquor, buses, etc. CM had centralised power but didn't take any action. I don't have any greed for a post but I only fight for Punjab's people's rights. I'll make Congress win 80-100 seats in 2022 polls," he continued saying.
