What is the 1988 road rage case against Sidhu?

Ground Report | New Delhi: Navjot Singh Sidhu; Congress has made Navjot Singh Sidhu the chief of Punjab state, bypassing Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's opposition. In a letter issued by party general secretary KC Venugopal, it has been said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has taken this decision.

Sangat Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Pawan Goyal, and Kuljit Singh Nagra have been made working presidents. In Punjab, where Amarinder Singh will be the captain of the government, Sidhu will be in command of the party.

There was a conflict between Sidhu and Amarinder Singh in Punjab for a long time. Sidhu had raised questions on the Amarinder Singh government by tweeting something.

After this, the ongoing conflict between the two escalated and the top leadership had to intervene. To resolve the matter, Congress formed a committee, which submitted its report to Sonia Gandhi. Amidst speculations about Sidhu's promotion, Amarinder Singh also wrote a letter to Sonia opposing it.

The Congress leadership has ignored Amarinder Singh's opposition to Sidhu's promotion and did not consider his suggested names for working presidents.

Singh's demand was that in view of the assembly elections, he should be made a participant in all important decisions and open freedom should be given for the election of working presidents. Even his demand for an apology from Sidhu has not been fulfilled.

After being elected as the chief of the Punjab state unit, now another challenge has arisen for Congress. Now it has to be seen how the party deals with the situation of confrontation between Sidhu and Singh.

If Congress returns to power after winning the assembly elections next year, will Amarinder Singh continue as the chief minister or Sidhu can be carried forward like now?
Sidhu, who switched from the BJP to the Congress ahead of the 2017 assembly elections, has strengthened his base among the opponents of Amarinder Singh in the party.

The Congress leadership believes that people see him as a leader doing issue-based politics and he is a vocal opponent of the Shiromani Akali Dal of the Badal family. The Congress hopes that Sidhu will help ensure the party's victory in the assembly elections as the new face.
