Muslims should not fear our alliance: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Idapady K. Palaniswami has said ahead of the state assembly elections this year that Muslims need not fear as they will not be affected by AIADMK (with BJP) alliance.

Palaniswami, who started on a two-day election campaign starting from Tirupur, said in a meeting with Jamaat leaders, "The alliance is a different matter and ideology is a different thing." Alliances keep changing because they are formed for political purposes."

Although he did not name any party while saying this, but the AIADMK fights elections in alliance with the BJP. He also gave a similar assurance in Ramanathapuram last month.

Palaniswamy asserted that "AIADMK does not discriminate in the name of caste-religion." There has been no major incident of communal violence in the state in the last four years. If there was a small incident, immediate action was taken in it.

Here he pointed to the incident in which recently BJP state secretary R.K. Kalyanraman was arrested for his alleged statement on Prophet Mohammad.

In his election speech Palaniswami said that farmers will be issued certificates of loan waiver on the crop 'within 10 days'.

He retaliated to the claim of opposition party DMK leader MK Stalin, in which he said that the loan of Rs 12,110 crore would remain as a jumla. He said- He can never understand the difficulties of the poor.

After this Palaniswami held talks with farmers in Kangayam. He said that the governments of Tamil Nadu and Kerala are negotiating for the Anamalaya-Nalar scheme, this work will start soon.

Assembly elections are due in Tamil Nadu in April-May this year. AIADMK will contest elections in alliance with BJP in the state.
