Mridul Agarwal topper of IIT Jee advance 2021, His life and success

Ground Report | New Delhi: Mridul Agarwal topper of IIT; The result of JEE Advanced 2021, the joint entrance exam for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) of the country, was declared on Friday morning. The results have been declared on the official website of IIT Kharagpur, jeeadv.ac.in. Mridul Aggarwal of Jaipur has topped this exam.

Mridul Agarwal has emerged as the topper with 96.66 percentile by securing 348 marks out of 360. This is the highest score scored by a student in JEE Advanced exam since 2011. 17-year-old Mridul is a resident of Jaipur.

He had also topped the JEE Main 2021 exam and secured 100 percentile in Session 1 and Session 2 with perfect 300 scores. When Mridul had topped JEE Main in March, he had said that he wanted to pursue BTech in Computer Science from IIT-Bombay. “Pichai's success is an inspiration to many like me – from passing out from IIT to becoming the CEO of tech giant Google. I also want to work in a top tech company or run my own start-up,” said Mridul.

This is the highest score scored by a student in JEE Advanced exam since 2011. In the last decade, the highest score has been 96 percent. When in the year 2012, the topper scored 385 out of a total of 401. Whereas in 2020, JEE Advanced exam was 396 marks and the highest score was 352, which is around 88.88 percent.

His life and success

For Mridul, he developed an interest for physics and chemistry and decided to pursue the subject. Always a brilliant student, Mridul was eager to crack the IIT-JEE exam and get a place in IIT Bombay. He secured 98.2% marks in his class 10 and class 12 CBSE board exams.

Mridul's father Pradeep Agarwal is the finance head in a private company and his mother Pooja Agarwal is a homemaker. His younger brother is in seventh grade.

In his journey to achieve success, Mridul used to spend around 12-14 hours a day. It included coaching as well as 6 to 8 hours of self-study. Committed to success in admissions, he joined Allen Career Institute's 4-year classroom program in class 9 and however remained consistent in his preparation.

“I have been a part of Kota Coaching for four wonderfully enlightening years. The competitive environment has played a huge role in shaping my preparation. My target was to achieve 100 percentile, which I achieved in JEE-Main. With my hard work and determination, I scored an incredible feat in JEE-Advanced. During my preparation, I planned my studies by setting a goal and making a point to achieve it. Apart from coaching, I devoted around 6 to 8 hours daily for self study,” said Mridul.

When the pandemic struck, Mridul used the extra time and opportunity to step up his preparations. He shared that he extended the time to study and was happy with the extra time available. Online classes also helped and interacting with other students helped them clear their doubts.
