Suresh Angadi, who was serving as the Minister of State for Railways in the Central Government, died on Wednesday due to a coronavirus infection. Two weeks ago, his test report came back positive, after which he advised those in contact with Twitter to take care of their health and get tested on symptoms. Angadi, an MP from Belagavi in Karnataka, was admitted to AIIMS after the condition deteriorated. However, he could not be saved despite treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Suresh Angadi. In a tweet, PM Modi said, “Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to make the Party strong in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective Minister, admired across the spectrum. His demise is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”
Expressing grief over Angadi’s death, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, “I remember Angadiji’s smiling face. Very sad to hear this bad news. ”
Senior BJP colleague Shobha Karandlaje also tweeted a tribute to Suresh Angadhi saying that it was a sense of personal loss for her.
“Shocked beyond words that our leader, good friend, very hardworking and humble Union Minister for Railways Sri Suresh Angadi Ji is no more! For me it’s a sense of personal loss, May his soul attain sadgati!” she wrote.
