Ground Report | Kashmir: The second wave of COVID-19 in India is causing havoc in rural areas as well. During the epidemic, when the health structure in the metros and cities has severely crumbled, the condition of the rural areas is worse.

In Jammu and Kashmir, after the covid virus cities, it is seen in the villages of the valley. Within 2 weeks of May month, about 50% surge in COVID-19 virus infected cases is being seen in most of the villages, whereas in active cases, more than 100% increase is seen in these villages in just two weeks.

According to the official data, the infection is spreading in the villages of all the states and union territories of the country after the cities. In the Kashmir Valley, the city of Srinagar and various districts adjacent to it are also seeing a 50% jump in cases in just 14 days.

According to the data provided by the officials, a total of 44522 cases were registered in Srinagar till May 1, out of which 35104 cases were recovered and a total of 8872 cases were active positive.

In Srinagar till May 13 these cases increased to a total of 56416 of which 45078 cases have been recovered and a total of 10687 cases are active which is an increase of around 20%. In the last two weeks, 105 infected deaths have been recorded in Srinagar.

Covid continues to spread footsteps in villages

According to the government data, as of May 1, in Kupwara district, there were 7189 cases in which 6078 cases were recovered and 1009 cases were active. Whereas till May 13, these cases were total 8974 out of which 7118 cases were recovered and 1744 cases are active, which is a jump of about 72% more. In Kupwara, 10 people have died due to this virus in the last two weeks.

The condition of Baramulla, is also similar, the total number of infected cases in the Baramulla district was 13268, out of which 10585 cases were recovered and 2484 cases were active positive. 

As of May 13, there have been 17533 cases in Baramulla, in which 13220 cases have been recovered and 4098 cases are active positive which is a 64% jump. In Baramulla, 16 people have died due to this virus in the last two weeks.

The situation is similar in Bandipora district too, till May 1, the total number of infected cases in Bandipora was 5531, out of which 5015 cases were recovered and 452 cases were active. The number of infected cases in Bandipora till May 13 is 6617, out of which 5670 cases have been recovered and 875 cases are still active, which is a 93% jump in these cases. In Bandipora, 8 people have died in the last two weeks.

In Budgam district of central Kashmir adjoining Srinagar, the total number of infected cases in Budgam till May 1 was 10912, out of which 9171 cases were recovered and 1609 cases were active. 

In Budgam till May 13 these cases are 15132 out of which 10998 cases have been recovered and 3987 cases are active which is about 150% jump in these active cases. So far 15 people have died in Budgam this month due to Corona virus infection.

According to the data in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir adjoining Srinagar, the total number of infected cases in Ganderbal till May 1 was 5536, in which 4960 cases were recovered and 526 cases were active. 

As of May 13, the number of infected cases in Ganderbal is 6638 of which 5490 have been recovered so far and 1087 cases are active positive which is a 106% jump in these active cases. So far this month 11 people have died of this virus in Ganderbal.

In Pulwama district of south Kashmir, the total number of infected cases in Pulwama till May 1 was 7233 of which 6159 cases were recovered and 973 cases were active positive.

The number of infected cases in Pulwama till May 13 is 10008, out of which 7368 cases have been recovered and 2511 cases are active which is a 158% jump in active cases. So far 28 people have died in Pulwama in this month of May due to this epidemic.

In Shopian district of South Kashmir, the total number of infected cases in Shopian till May 1 was 3107, out of which 2702 cases were recovered and 363 cases were active. 

The total number of infected cases in Shopian till May 13 is 4316, out of which 2968 cases have been recovered and 1304 cases are active, which is an increase of 250% in active positive cases. So far in May, 2 infected people have died in Shopian.

According to the data provided by the officials in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, the total number of infected cases in Anantnag till May 1 was 7285 of which 5627 cases were recovered and 1547 cases were active. 

As of May 13, the number of infected cases in Anantnag has been 11063, out of which 6768 cases have been recovered so far and 4166 cases are active, which is an increase of about 170% in active cases. So far in May, 18 people have died in Anantnag due to this covid infection.

In Kulgam district of South Kashmir, the total number of infected cases in Kulgam till May 1 was 4577, of which 3177 cases were recovered and 1336 cases were active. 

As of May 13, the number of infected cases in Kulgam is 7300, out of which 3782 cases have been recovered and 3443 cases are active, which is an increase of about 160% in active cases. In Kulgam, 11 people have died due to this infection so far this month.
