Ground Report | New Delhi: Monsoon Update; The India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Monsoon Trough is lying north of its normal position above mean sea level, it is likely to remain over the same during next 2 days and then move southwards. Due to its impact, very heavy rainfall is very likely over the Western Himalayan region Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

From today July 19 to July 21 and after that, there is a possibility of less rainfall in these areas. On July 19, ie today, very heavy rain is expected in Uttarakhand and North-West Uttar Pradesh as well. On July 19, isolated parts of Delhi and Chandigarh are also likely to receive torrential rains.

A trough away from sea level extends from Maharashtra Coast to Karnataka Coast. It is likely to remain similar during the next 4 to 5 days. Due to all this, very heavy rains are likely to continue over the west coast and adjoining interior areas during the next 5 to 6 days.

Very heavy rains have also been forecast in Konkan and Goa, Ghat areas around Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal and South Interior areas  , while Monsoon clouds will rain heavily in Karnataka today.

A low pressure area is very likely to form over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas around July 23. Due to this, very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over and around central India before 22nd July.

Today July 19, at different places in Kerala and Mahe, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh And there is a possibility of lightning, thundershower, and gusty winds at the rate of 30 to 40 kmph at isolated places in Delhi.

Today Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Sikkim, Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam Lightning, thundershowers and gusty winds gusting to 30 to 40 kmph have also been expressed at isolated places over Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
