Ground Report | New Delhi: Military plane crashes in Philippines: A military plane carrying at least 85 people has crashed in the southern Philippines, the Philippines’ army chief has said. General Sirilito Sobejana told AFP news agency that the C-130 plane crashed while trying to land on the island of Jolo in Sulu province.

According to AFP, many of the passengers on the plane had recently completed bachelor’s degrees in military training and were being deployed as part of a task force fighting extremists in the Muslim-majority troubled region.

“Rescue teams have arrived at the scene and we pray that more people will be rescued,” he added.
