Ground Report | New Delhi: Major accident in Himachal Pradesh A landslide occurred on National Highway 5 in Himachal Pradesh's remote Kinnaur district on Wednesday, in which many people are feared trapped. A state roadways bus and several vehicles were crushed in a landslide on a large stretch of highway near Nigulsari, 61 km from Rekong Peo, the district headquarters of Kinnaur.

Giving information about this accident, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said, "Every effort is being made to rescue the people trapped under the debris. All possible help will be provided to the affected."

Himachal Roadways bus was going from Munrag to Haridwar. The district administration team has reached the spot, according to the information received from the spot, some people were in vehicles at the time of the incident.

The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus was going from Rekong Peo to Haridwar via Shimla. However, there is no official confirmation about the number of passengers in the bus.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today spoke to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and assured him of all possible help in the wake of landslides on the Rekong Peo-Shimla highway in Kinnaur district. 

According to reports, more than 40 people were in the bus, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur told reporters in Shimla that he has directed the Kinnaur administration to expedite the relief and rescue operations.

According to the local administration, this incident took place between 12 and 12:30 in the afternoon. The administration says that as soon as the information about the accident was received, a team of bus relief and rescue work was dispatched to the spot. According to him, there is a possibility of some people being buried in the landslide.

The local administration said that till now stones are falling continuously on the spot, due to which the administration and police are facing a lot of difficulties in starting the relief and rescue work. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken information about the Kinnaur accident from the Chief Minister of the state, Jai Ram Thakur.

The Prime Minister's Office tweeted and informed that PM Modi has assured all possible assistance in relief and rescue work.
