In a private hospital in Thane, Maharashtra, four patients have died in a fierce fire at around 3.40 am today.

According to the information, the remaining patients have been shifted to another hospital.

Many patients are said to be injured, It is being said that after the fire, the patients were being shifted to another hospital in which four patients died. Relief and rescue work is still going on.

Thane's Senior Police Inspector Madhukar Shivaji Kad said that four people have died, the bodies have been sent for postmortem and after postmortem the cause of death will be known.

He said that initially, we got information that there are 12 people inside the hospital but the number may vary. There will be a police investigation into the incident and action will be taken against those found guilty.

According to preliminary reports, a fire broke out at Prime Criticare Hospital in Kausa in Mumbra area of ​​Thane district in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to Thane police and fire officials, more than 20 patients have been evacuated so far.

Local MLA and Maharashtra minister Jitendra Awhad told reporters at the scene that at least three persons were roasted alive in the fire that destroyed the first floor of the hospital.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was informed of the tragedy, he said. The family of each deceased will be given a compensation of Rs. five lakh and those injured will get Rs one lakh each, he added.

A high-level enquiry committee has been constituted to go into the cause of the fire, he said. The committee will comprise officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation and also the police and medical officials, he said.
