LoC peaceful, tourists going to remote areas of Kashmir: Army

Ground Report | New Delhi: LoC peaceful; Lt Gen DP Pandey, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army's 15 Corps based in Srinagar, said on Wednesday that the situation along the Line of Control was much better and tourists were visiting remote places in Kashmir.

Pandey said this while addressing the Keran Mela-2021 in the northern district of Kupwara. The fair was organized by the Army along the Line of Control (LoC) on the banks of the famous Kishanganga River. Senior army officers were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Keran Mela, the GOC said that the Army will continue to organize events, irrespective of whether the Line of Control (LoC) is peaceful or not. "When the Line of Control is peaceful, it is beneficial for the people living on the border to lead a better life. Therefore, the Line of Control should remain peaceful for them," the GOC said.

“The enemy always makes a plan to enable terrorists to sneak in to violate the ceasefire, but all such bids are foiled. The LoC is peaceful and I hope it will remain so.

Regarding the infrastructure coming from the other side of the border, the Corps Commander said that infrastructure will be created from both sides for the people. “When there is a ceasefire, the benefits will go to both the sides”, said the army officer, “the people have nothing to do with the conflict. When something happens it is a military matter. We should extend such things to the army only. should be limited."

Talking about border tourism in Kashmir, the GOC said that the Army has been doing this. "There have been off-road events. People are going to places like Gurez, Tangdhar, and tourists are going there who are coming from rest of the country because there was nothing like it earlier", the GOC said.

He also said that the security situation has become so good that people are moving to remote areas of the country.

He further said that the atmosphere has changed and the security situation is better and people want tourists to come and stay. "Everyone wants a good peace and a stable situation", said the GOC- (KNO)
