List of people who got their Twitter blue tick back without subscription

Twitter's decision to remove the legacy blue tick from verified accounts has caused uproar in the social media world, with many users expressing disappointment and frustration. This move comes after months of anticipation and speculation surrounding the launch of Twitter Blue, the company's new paid subscription service.

With the removal of the blue tick, only users who subscribe to Twitter Blue will be able to keep their verified status and access the exclusive features that come with the subscription. Despite this, some notable personalities like LeBron James and Stephen King have managed to keep their check marks, thanks to the personal intervention of Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

The controversy surrounding Twitter's blue tick and verification process is likely to continue, as users debate the pros and cons of paid verification on the popular social media platform.

It is worth noting that some notable personalities, who had lost their blue ticks, have had their verified status restored without having to pay for it. Among these individuals are Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, journalist and author Kara Swisher, former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, renowned author Stephen King and more people in the list.

Elon Musk returns blue tick

Hasan Piker wrote, "I have no clue how this happened, i absolutely did not buy twitter blue," while Kara Swisher expressed her surprise over the move and wrote, "Good lord, I’ve been LeBroned, Shatnered, Kinged without my consent. No means no, boys."

Omar Abdullah wrote, "Apparently I’ve paid for Twitter Blue & given them a phone number to verify except that I haven’t. Mr Musk are you paying for mine as well?"

Stephen King, talking about his blue tick, wrote, "My Twitter account says I’ve subscribed to Twitter Blue. I haven’t. My Twitter account says I’ve given a phone number. I haven’t."

In another tweet, he wrote, "I think Mr. Musk should give my blue check to charity. I recommend the Prytula Foundation, which provides lifesaving services in Ukraine. It's only $8, so perhaps Mr. Musk could add a bit more."

Nobel prize winning economist Paul Krugman ""So my blue check has reappeared. I had nothing to do with that, and am definitely not paying," he wrote on his page".

Malala Yousafzai tweeted "I don’t know what happened but I’m happy to have my blue tick back so everyone knows I am still Malala" 🌝

Elon Musk's response

It appears that Elon Musk has personally intervened to help some celebrities retain their blue ticks on Twitter, even if they have not subscribed to the company's paid service, Twitter Blue.

Two and a Half Men actor Charlie Sheen, for instance, thanked Musk for paying for his blue tick and wrote, "oh my! it’s like Xmas and my birthday all at once! @elonmusk i’m flushed with gratitude. Rock Star move, good sir." To this, Musk replied and wrote, "You're welcome."
