Ground Report | New Delhi: Bills passed in this winter session; Parliament's winter session began last month on November 29, 2021, and the government listed a bill to repeal all three farm laws on the first day. The bill to repeal the agricultural laws is scheduled to be presented in Lok Sabha on Monday.

In addition to the repeal bill, the government has listed 25 bills for the session, including one to ban all but a few private cryptocurrencies while allowing an official digital currency by the RBI.

A report from the Joint Committee of Parliament on the 2019 personal data protection bill will also be presented in the two Houses during the session. The bill was presented to Parliament in 2019 and referred to the committee for further scrutiny at the request of members of the opposition.

The Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021

The Agriculture Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on November 29, 2021, by the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar.

The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021

The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill 2021 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 20, 2021. The bill amends the People's Representation Act 1950 and the People's Representation Act 1951 to implement certain electoral reforms. The 1950 Act provides for the allocation of seats and the delimitation of electoral districts, the qualification of voters, and the preparation of electoral lists. The 1951 Law provides for the holding of elections and crimes and disputes related to elections.

The Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021

The Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 3, 2021. It replaces the Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021. The Bill seeks to amend the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003. The 2003 Act provides for the constitution of a Central Vigilance Commission to inquire into the offenses allegedly committed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill, 2021

The High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill, 2021 was introduced by Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju in the Lok Sabha on November 30, 2021.

The Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Bill, 2021

The Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 3, 2021. It replaces the Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021.

The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2021

The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill of 2021 was introduced in Lok Sabha on December 6, 2021. It seeks to replace the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Ordinance of 2021.
