Hindutva radicals angry with Mohan Bhagwat

Bhagwat recently made the remarks during an interview with RSS affiliates Organizer and Panchjanya magazines, supporting the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. The RSS chief said that they have the right to privacy and even cited an example from the Mahabharata.

The RSS chief spoke about the existence of same-sex relationships even in mythology, giving the example of two generals in the Mahabharata who were apparently in a relationship and had waged war against Lord Krishna.

Mohan Bhagwat told the magazine: “Yes, LGBT ki samasya hai. Jarasandha ke do senapati them Hamsa aur Dimbhaka. Woh itne mitra they ki Krishna ne afwaah failayi ki Dimbhaka mar gaya hai, tou Hamsa ne atmahatya kar li. Haz senapatiyon ko aisehi maar dala. Ab yeh kya cheez…yeh woh hi cheez hai. In dono ke waise sambandha ellos (When Krishna fanned the rumour that Dimbhaka was dead, Hans killed themself. This is how Krishna got rid of those two generals. Come to think of it: what does history suggest? This is the same. The two generals were in that kind of relationship.”

Complaint filed Bhagwat

According to the complaint filed by Sandeep Deo, Bhagwat's recent interview with the two RSS spokespersons endorsed and associated homosexuality with Hindu religious figures. Bhagwat has also been accused of making inflammatory remarks against Lord Krishna.

Deo's complaint says that the description of Hans and Dimbaka as a gay couple or that they "are attracted to each other" is not factually correct and cites the "Sri Harivansh purana" as bearing the true version of this "historical occurrence." ".

“It is always there that we have respect for the LGBT community as well, but as a person of Hindu faith/Santana Dharma, we know that misrepresenting scriptural (sic) facts is never encouraged,” the complaint reads. However, in the blog, Deo accuses Bhagwat of “justifying an unnatural act like 'homosexuality'” through Hindu theology.
