On Sunday, many parts of Madhya Pradesh experienced heavy storms, rain, and hail. In Khargone, Maheshwar was hit by a hailstorm, and Satna received heavy rain. Tragically, lightning strikes in Shivpuri killed a woman and 11 buffaloes. Several districts saw temperatures exceed 40°C, with Bhopal at 38.8°C and Indore at 38.6°C. The weather department predicts a rise in temperatures after today.

Starting April 16, a heat wave will affect regions such as Gwalior, Chambal, and Indore, pushing the temperature further upwards. Night temperatures in most areas will be 2-3°C above normal, ranging from 23 to 26°C, with daytime temperatures in Indore and Chambal expected to hit 41-43°C. Heat wave conditions are likely to last for 2-3 days, and no significant rain is expected during this period.

The first week of April saw higher-than-usual night temperatures, staying between 21-24°C. The maximum daytime temperature in divisions like Indore, Sagar, and Narmadapuram reached 39-44°C due to hot western winds. In the second week of April, temperatures are expected to remain stable with slight increases, particularly in areas like Indore, Gwalior, Chambal, and Rewa, where the mercury could rise to 41-43°C.

By the fourth week, the heat will intensify further, with temperatures hitting 43-45°C in Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, and Rewa divisions. The rest of the state, including Bhopal and Indore, will see temperatures of 41-44°C. According to data from the past 10 years, temperatures in cities like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and Gwalior have crossed 43°C in late April, and this year, the trend is expected to continue. The heat wave is likely to last for 15-20 days until May, with hot winds expected for 30-35 days in total.
