A fire incident erupted at the Tata Electronics manufacturing unit in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday morning, primarily affecting the cellphone section. The incident prompted an immediate evacuation of employees, with initial reports indicating no serious injuries.
According to Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), emergency protocols were activated to ensure personnel safety. “There was a fire at our plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Our emergency protocols ensure all employees are safe. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and we will take necessary actions to safeguard the interests of our employees and stakeholders,” the company stated.
Local news agency IANS reported significant property damage, with fire brigades working to control the blaze. The fire began in the mobile phone accessories painting unit in Uddanapalli, near Nagamangalam, around 5:30 AM. Thick smoke spread throughout the area, causing panic among workers and nearby residents.
At the time of the fire, about 1,500 workers were present for the first shift. Local authorities confirmed three employees suffered respiratory issues and were transported to a private hospital, where their condition has stabilized.
Over 100 police personnel were deployed to assist in evacuating employees safely. TEPL has reiterated its commitment to investigate the fire’s cause and protect its workforce and stakeholders.
