Madhya Pradesh is experiencing a rise in temperatures, and the heat is expected to become more intense in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert for various regions of the state between March 27 and 31. The heat will be most severe in the Malwa-Nimar region, which includes cities like Ratlam, Ujjain, Khargone, Khandwa, and Dhar. These areas are already seeing temperatures above 38°C, with Ratlam reaching 39°C for the second consecutive day. Other cities in the state, including Guna, Mandla, and Shivpuri, have recorded temperatures of 36°C or higher.
The heat wave is expected to occur when the daytime temperature exceeds 40°C or is 4.6°C higher than the usual temperature for this time of year. The weather department has predicted a further increase in temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees, which could push temperatures in some areas above 40°C.
On March 25, Ratlam recorded the highest temperature at 39.2°C, followed by Narmadapuram at 38.9°C and Dhar at 38.6°C. Other cities, including Khargone, Shajapur, and Narsinghpur, also recorded temperatures between 36°C and 37°C. In major cities, Bhopal recorded a temperature of 35.5°C, Indore reached 36.8°C, and Ujjain saw a temperature of 37.5°C.
The heat is expected to persist over the next few days. On March 26, temperatures will rise by 2 to 3 degrees, and the sun’s intensity will continue, making it feel even hotter. The heat wave is expected to have its peak during this time, with no rain in sight to provide relief.
Looking ahead, the summer season will bring more intense heat. The Meteorological Department has predicted heat waves for 15 to 20 days from March to May. The heat is expected to worsen in April and May, with temperatures potentially reaching higher levels. During these months, hot winds may blow for 30 to 35 days, making the heat feel even more unbearable.
Residents of Madhya Pradesh are advised to take precautions during this period. It is important to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day. The heat will continue to intensify, so everyone should be prepared for the upcoming heat waves.
