IMD warns of significant weather

In today's morning bulletin, the IMD noted that Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, South Interior Karnataka, and Mahe should expect moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning. Rayalaseema, Yanam, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh might experience similar conditions on November 7. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is predicted in Tripura, Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur on November 5 and 6.

The IMD anticipates isolated heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe on November 5 and 6. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also expected to see isolated heavy rainfall over the next two days, as per the department's predictions.

Northeast Uttar Pradesh residents should expect moderate to dense fog early November 4, impacting visibility during morning hours. The forecast suggests a notable chill is expected, with a 1-2°C drop in maximum and minimum temperatures over the past 24 hours. Elsewhere, temperatures in Northwest, Central, and East India remain stable.

Temperature trends in India, Air quality concerns

The IMD reported maximum temperatures are 2-4°C above normal across Northwest, Central, and East India. Minimum temperatures are 1-2 °C higher in Haryana, Delhi, and Odisha, and by 2-4°C in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Gangetic West Bengal. No significant temperature changes are expected in North and Central India over the next three to four days.

The IMD predicts clear skies for Delhi and NCR, with light smog and shallow fog in the early morning and night. Winds will shift direction and pick up speed, reaching up to 8 km/h in the afternoon, but slow down in the evening and night.

Delhi continues to grapple with air quality issues. As of 7 a.m. today, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was 373, classified as "very poor," according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Several monitoring stations reported even more severe AQI levels exceeding 400, including Anand Vihar (433), Ashok Vihar (409), Rohini (409), and Bawana (408). Other affected areas included Dwarka Sector-8 (393), R.K. Puram (393), Nehru Nagar (399), Patparganj (402), and Vivek Vihar (421).

The city recorded its coldest temperature of the season overnight, with dense fog and haze in the morning and evening. For November 4, the IMD forecasts mild morning fog, with maximum and minimum temperatures around 34°C and 17°C.

Cyclonic circulation observations

A cyclonic circulation has been detected over the southeast Arabian Sea off the south Kerala coast, influencing the current weather. This system, situated in the lower troposphere, contributes to the observed patterns of rainfall and wind movement in the affected regions.

The IMD's advisory aims to keep residents informed about impending weather changes and encourage preparedness, particularly in areas facing heavy rainfall, fog, or severe air quality challenges.
