Madhya Pradesh is experiencing unusually warm weather, with daytime temperatures above 34°C for the first time this season. On Monday, cities like Bhopal and Indore recorded temperatures above 30°C, making the days feel hotter. However, meteorologists predict a slight dip in temperatures after two days.
Rising temperatures statewide
The Meteorological Department predicts warmer days ahead, with cold weather only in the mornings and nights. Mandla and Seoni recorded the highest temperatures at 34.2°C and 34°C, respectively.

Meteorologists predict a Western Disturbance may activate on February 8, leading to cloud cover across parts of the state. Rainfall is expected between February 12-14, which may stabilise temperatures.
-
February 4: Light fog in Gwalior, Chambal, and Ujjain divisions. Daytime heat will persist.
-
February 5: Warm days will continue, with cold effects only in the mornings and nights.
Climate trends of last decade
Weather data from the past 10 years suggests February in Madhya Pradesh has cold nights, hot days, and occasional rainfall. Notably:
-
Bhopal: Day temperatures have exceeded 35°C for four years, while nights drop below 10°C.
-
Indore: February is usually dry, with occasional drizzles. The highest recorded temperature was 37.9°C in 2006.
-
Gwalior: Known for its extreme cold, night temperatures often drop below 5°C.
-
Jabalpur: Weather fluctuates between warm days and cool nights, with occasional rainfall.
-
Ujjain: A mix of heat, cold, and rain, with daytime temperatures over 30°C and nighttime temperatures below 10°C.
Rising temperatures in Madhya Pradesh signal an early onset of summer-like conditions. While cold mornings persist, daytime heat is intensifying. A temporary relief is expected with possible mid-February rain, but warming trends continue.
