Weather forecast for coming days

According to the Meteorological Department, a slight drop in temperatures is expected from Tuesday. Cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur may experience some relief on March 4 and 5.

The first week of March has seen mixed weather patterns. While some areas, such as Morena, experienced hail and rain, most places are now facing intense sunshine.

In the second week, night temperatures in Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram are expected to be 2-3°C above normal, while in other cities, they will remain between 15-17°C. Maximum temperatures will stay normal at 31-34°C in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions.

By the third week, minimum temperatures will rise by 3-4°C, reaching 20-23°C in Indore and 19-21°C in other regions. Maximum temperatures will range between 34-38°C, which is 2-4°C above normal. Some areas may experience light rain due to a combination of Western Disturbance and southeastern winds.

In the fourth week, temperatures will rise further. Maximum temperatures will reach 38-42°C, with Jabalpur expecting highs of 37-40°C. Some areas may see light rain, but a heatwave could affect parts of the state for 3-4 days.

April and May expected to be hottest months

The Meteorological Department has predicted that April and May will be the hottest months this year. In districts of Gwalior, Chambal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions, temperatures may exceed 45°C. Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram will also experience extreme heat.

March in Madhya Pradesh has always been a mix of hot days, cool nights, and occasional rain. Bhopal’s maximum temperature has reached 41°C in past years, while Indore recorded 41.1°C in March 1892. Gwalior has seen extreme variations, with temperatures ranging from 5.4°C at night to 41.8°C during the day.

Jabalpur experiences cold nights with temperatures around 15°C, while daytime temperatures range from 36-40°C. Ujjain, known for hot March days, recorded its highest temperature of 42.5°C on March 22, 2010.

Residents are advised to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun as temperatures continue to rise.
