The Meteorological Department warned that most parts of the state will face more heat on Thursday. Temperatures may rise further in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.

Despite the heat, some areas saw brief rain on Wednesday. Dhar’s Manawar received heavy rainfall in the evening. Rain also fell in Pandhurna. Weather conditions shifted at night in Khargone, Balaghat, Seoni, Mandla, Barwani, Burhanpur, and Betul.

The weather is expected to remain hot till April 18. After that, temperatures may drop by 2 to 3 degrees. In the third week of April, north-western winds will push minimum temperatures to 25–27 degrees. Daytime highs could range between 42 and 44 degrees. A brief heatwave may last 2 to 3 days, with some chances of light rain.

In the fourth week, minimum temperatures may rise further to 27–30 degrees, staying above normal. Nights will also feel warmer. Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, and Rewa could hit 43 to 45 degrees, while Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain may stay around 41 to 44 degrees. A cyclonic circulation over Bengal could cause a 3 to 4-day heatwave toward the end of April.

The first two weeks of April saw a mix of intense heat, storms, and rain. All regions recorded minimum temperatures between 21 and 24 degrees, higher than normal. Indore, Sagar, and Narmadapuram hit maximums between 39 and 44 degrees. Other cities like Bhopal and Gwalior saw highs around 41–42 degrees. Ratlam already experienced a heatwave in the first week.

In the second week, storms, hail, and rain swept through 80 percent of the state. Some districts still felt rising heat due to hot winds. Going forward, the weather department expects 15 to 20 days of heatwave in May. Hot winds could blow across the state for 30 to 35 days through April and May.

A 10-year study of cities like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and Gwalior shows that the heat begins to intensify in the second half of April. Bhopal and Indore have reached 43 degrees, Jabalpur 44, and Gwalior over 45 degrees. These cities have seen severe heat in the past three years. This year is expected to follow a similar pattern.
