The weather in Madhya Pradesh remains unstable. On Wednesday, a strong storm hit Mandsaur district, bringing rain and hail. The weather department has issued an alert for hailstorms in Khargone, Khandwa, Harda, and Betul. Storms and light rain are expected in several districts, including Gwalior and Jabalpur. Bhopal and Indore will remain cloudy.
The weather department has warned of thunderstorms and light rain in Gwalior, Jabalpur, Morena, Sheopur, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Satna, Rewa, Maihar, Panna, Katni, Damoh, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Raisen, Narmadapuram, and Sehore. Winds may blow at speeds of 30-40 km/h.
Dr. Divya E. Surendran, a senior meteorologist, said that the changes in weather are due to a trough, Western Disturbance, and cyclonic circulation. Hailstorms, thunderstorms, and light rain are likely on Thursday.
Seoni recorded 28.2°C, Narmadapuram 40.2°C, and Indore 37°C on Wednesday. Hail fell in Garoth and Shamgarh areas of Mandsaur. Rain was recorded in Didori, Chhindwara, Mandla, Seoni, and Umaria. The day temperature dropped due to these conditions.
On April 3, hailstorms are possible in Khargone, Khandwa, Harda, and Betul. Thunderstorms and light rain will continue in several districts. On April 4, the weather will be mostly clear, with some clouds over Bhopal.
The weather department predicts a heat wave lasting 7-10 days in April. The temperature may exceed 45°C in the last week of the month. Dr. Vedprakash Singh, Scientific Director of Meteorological Center Bhopal, said temperatures are expected to remain above normal.
During the first week of April, night temperatures will be 21-24°C, while day temperatures will reach 39-42°C in some divisions. Light rain is possible. In the second week, night temperatures will be 23-26°C in Indore, Ujjain, and Chambal divisions. Heat waves may last 2-3 days. In the third week, minimum temperatures will be 25-27°C, and maximum temperatures will reach 42-44°C. Light rain is possible. In the fourth week, nights will become hotter, with temperatures rising to 27-30°C. A heat wave may last 3-4 days.
The summer season in Madhya Pradesh begins in March. The weather department predicts heat waves for 15-20 days until May. Hot winds may blow for 30-35 days in April and May.
Bhopal recorded its highest April temperature of 44.4°C on April 29, 1996. In Indore, the mercury reached 44.6°C on April 25, 1958. Jabalpur's hottest April day was April 28, 1970, with 45.4°C. Gwalior recorded 46.2°C on April 28, 1958.
Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and Gwalior have seen fluctuating rainfall patterns in April. In Bhopal, 30.8 mm of rain fell on April 20, 2013. In Indore, 22.3 mm of rain was recorded last year. Gwalior recorded 67.6 mm of rain on April 22, 1909, the highest ever in a single day. The weather in Madhya Pradesh will continue to show mixed patterns, with intermittent rain, storms, and heat waves in the coming weeks.
