Hailstorm alert in 11 districts, rain and heat to hit Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh will see a mix of hailstorms, rain, and heatwaves over the next four days. The Meteorological Department has issued a hailstorm alert for 11 districts, including Jabalpur and Seoni.

Madhya Pradesh will face hailstorms, rain, and heat over the next four days. The Meteorological Department has issued a hailstorm alert for 11 districts, including Jabalpur, today.

The districts on alert are Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, and Katni. Thunderstorms and drizzle may affect Singrauli, Sagar, Narmadapuram, Betul, and Dewas.

Meanwhile, Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain will face intense heat. Gwalior-Chambal division may experience a heatwave during the day and rain at night.

It rained on Sunday in several districts including Damoh, Vidisha, Sagar, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Narsinghpur, Seoni, and Umaria. Bhopal saw drizzle by evening, while western parts of the state stayed hot.

Naugaon in Chhatarpur district recorded the highest temperature drop, with the mercury falling from 43 degrees Celsius on Saturday to 33 degrees on Sunday. Other cities also recorded drops: 4 degrees in Chhindwara, 4.2 degrees in Khajuraho, 6 degrees in Sidhi, 2 degrees in Seoni, and 3.4 degrees in Malajkhand.

Ratlam was the hottest city on Sunday, reaching 43.3 degrees. Guna recorded 41.6 degrees, Dhar-Khargone 41.2 degrees, and Ujjain 41 degrees. Bhopal stood at 39.2 degrees, Indore at 40.4 degrees, and Gwalior at 40.2 degrees. Sidhi was the coolest at 31.8 degrees.

Meteorologist Arun Sharma said a western disturbance and a cyclonic circulation caused the weather changes. Rain will likely continue for four more days, with daytime heat staying strong.

The fourth week of April will bring hotter days and nights. Minimum temperatures across the state will stay 3-4 degrees above normal, between 27 to 30 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures may reach 43-45 degrees in Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, and Rewa divisions. In other regions like Indore, Ujjain, and Bhopal, it may stay between 41 to 44 degrees.

Data from the past 10 years show that temperatures in MP peak at the end of April. In past years, Bhopal and Indore hit 43 degrees, Jabalpur reached 44 degrees, and Gwalior crossed 45 degrees. This year, the mercury is rising again, crossing 44 degrees in many cities.
