We track daily weather updates across India and the world. Our live blog covers heatwaves, floods, cyclones, heavy rain, storms, and other extreme weather events. We bring you reports from cities, towns, and villages to show how weather is affecting daily life.

Advertisment

Extreme weather is no longer rare. Many parts of India now face intense heat, sudden rainfall, flash floods, storm or strong winds with little warning. These events disrupt transport, damage crops, close schools, and put lives at risk. We monitor these developments and provide timely, clear updates you can trust.

When a heatwave hits, we report temperature levels, health risks, and government responses. During floods, we track water levels, rescue work, and damage. We cover storm warnings and power cuts, and share safety tips from weather officials.

Our team uses real-time data, satellite maps, and reports from the ground. We speak with people facing the weather crisis—farmers, shopkeepers, families—so you hear real voices and not just numbers. If a cyclone is expected, we post live updates about its path, speed, and impact.

We also look at long-term changes. Are heatwaves getting worse? Is rainfall less predictable? What do experts say about future risks?

You can follow this blog for daily posts, real-time alerts, and useful information. Whether you live in a city or a rural area, this blog helps you stay prepared and aware.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain warning for several districts in West Bengal and Odisha. Coastal areas in both states are also expected to receive intense rainfall.

A low-pressure area over the northwestern Bay of Bengal has rapidly intensified into a depression. As a result, strong winds and heavy rainfall are likely in coastal regions of West Bengal, Odisha, and Bangladesh.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. Those already out at sea have been asked to return to shore immediately. Disaster response teams have been deployed, and relief measures are being put in place in the affected districts.

People living in coastal areas have been urged to stay alert. Authorities have asked residents to follow official advisories and take necessary precautions, as the depression may lead to landfall today.

Delhi Braces for More Storms as IMD Issues Alert, Air India Warns of Flight Delays

On the evening of May 29, Delhi and surrounding areas prepared for another round of storms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorms with rain on Thursday and Friday.

Air India issued a travel advisory, warning passengers that flights to and from Delhi may face delays. The airline advised travellers to check their flight status and allow extra time to reach the airport.

This month has already broken records. As of Sunday, Delhi recorded 186.4 mm of rainfall, the highest for May in the city’s history. The previous record was 165 mm in 2008.

Earlier this week, a strong storm hit Delhi and the National Capital Region. Meteorologists explained it was caused by a mix of moist southeasterly winds and dry westerlies. The situation worsened due to three active weather systems:

    • A western disturbance over north Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir

    • An upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh and north Haryana

    • Another circulation over west Rajasthan

The IMD has urged residents to stay alert, especially in low-lying areas, and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain or strong winds. The weather department continues to monitor conditions closely.

Red Alert in Kerala: Heavy Rains Cause Damage, Displacements

The IMD has issued a red alert for eight Kerala districts—Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod—after early monsoon rains caused widespread damage. For Friday, red alerts remain in Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod, while the other 11 districts are under orange alert. Red means over 20 cm rain in 24 hours. A severe low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring more heavy rain. Thunderstorms, wind speeds of 40–60 kmph, and rising water levels in key rivers like Manimala, Achankovil, Meenachil, Korapuzha, and Kabani have raised flood concerns. The monsoon, which began on May 24, uprooted trees, damaged homes, destroyed crops, and caused power outages. Relief camps are housing displaced families, especially in Wayanad.
