Ground Report | New Delhi Eid ul Fitr 2021 Date India: The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, celebrated by Muslims all over the world, is now very close. Eid-ul-Fitr, will mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the 10th month of 1442 Hijri, according to the Islamic calendar.

Eid-ul Fitr means the festival to end the fast, because this fast comes after the end of the month of Ramadan. Muslims around the world offer special prayers in the morning on the first day of Shawwal to mark the festival of Eid.

According to Muslim beliefs, the month of Ramadan is the holiest month of the lunar calendar, during which the Holy Book of the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). 

Therefore, Eid is a reward from Allah (God) for those who pray and fast during Ramadan.

Eid-ul-Fitr date 2021 in India

According to traditions, Eid-ul-Fitr takes place on the first day of Shawwal. Since Ramadan began on April 13 this year, Eid-ul-Fitr will either be on May 13, if Ramadan month ends in 29 days, or on May 14, if Ramadan month ends in 30 days. 

However, the end of the month of Ramadan and the exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr depends on the sighting of the Crescent Moon. 

In most countries including India, there is a high-powered committee of clerics who decide the day of Eid ul Fitr. In India, the sighting of the Crescent Moon is announced by the Riyat-e-Hilal Committee.

The time and date of celebrating Eid depends from one country to another. Many countries celebrate Eid on the same day as it is celebrated in Saudi Arabia. 

However, Eid ul Fitr in India is celebrated on the second day of the crescent moon in Saudi Arabia, which means that Eid in India is celebrated the day after it was celebrated in the United Arab Emirates.

On the occasion of Eid, Muslim men from all over the world pray in large gatherings in the morning. Apart from praying to Allah, Muslims exchange gifts, enjoy traditional cuisines and wish each other Allah Eid Mubarak.
