Kanhaiya Lal murder video: Cremated amid tight security

What is the Situation in Udaipur after Kanhaiya Lal's murder?

Kanhaiya Lal, whose brutal murder triggered communal tension in Udaipur, was cremated in the presence of a large number of people, while a curfew was imposed in some parts of the city. A large number of police personnel were deployed during the funeral procession to maintain law and order.

Police officials of Rajasthan said that the accused arrested after the murder of a tailor in Udaipur city on Tuesday afternoon is being questioned and said that action will be taken against those whose names come in the investigation.

Describing this incident as a failure of the police, the opposition said that the deceased Kanhaiyalal had told about the threat being received by the police. At the same time, the police say that there was a reconciliation between Kanhaiyalal and the people who threatened him in this regard.

After the Udaipur incident, mobile internet has been suspended for 24 hours to maintain law and order in the entire state and prohibitory orders under section 144 have been imposed in all the districts for the next one month.

The body of the deceased Kanhaiyalal was handed over to his relatives after a post-mortem on Wednesday morning. A huge crowd gathered while the body was taken for the last rites.

Udaipur SP Manoj Kumar said that no incident has happened after the murder and the situation is completely under control. He said, “Action will be taken against the accused. I appeal to all the people to have faith in the law.”

According to India Today, Victim Kanhaiya Lal’s sons Yash and Tarun said that their father regularly received threatening calls and had also complained to the police. However, the police did not take any action on his complaint, they alleged.

In his complaint to the police on June 15, he alleged, “About 6 days back my son had posted something while playing a game on his mobile phone. I didn’t know about it. Two days later two people came to my shop. He said- An objectionable post has been made from your mobile. I said that I do not know how to operate a mobile. My child plays games on it. It might have happened by mistake. After this the post was also deleted. He said don’t do it again.”

“My father had posted objectionable remarks on social media by mistake, he was arrested and later got bail. He even apologized at the police station during the settlement meeting. He was regularly receiving threatening calls. For which he had approached the police many times. But the police never took any action. If timely action was taken, our father would have been alive today.”
