"We confirm the bombing outside Kabul airport," said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby. "Nothing can be said about the deaths or injuries. Details will be notified as soon as they are received.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said two bombs exploded. The statement also confirmed the safety of Turkish troops. The Pentagon's press secretary, John Kirby, also confirmed the two blasts.

However, Reuters news agency quoted Taliban officials as saying that several people, including Taliban bodyguards, had been injured in the blast and that 13 people had been killed so far, including children.

Photos and videos of the blast outside Kabul Airport are being shared on various social media accounts, which can be used to gauge the magnitude of the blast.

A U.S. official told Reuters the bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a U.S. military base. The White House has confirmed that President Joe Biden has been notified of the attack. No casualties have been reported so far. There are also reports of gunfire at the airport.

The British government also warned its citizens to stay away from Hamid Karzai International Airport, according to AFP.

The United Kingdom on Wednesday asked its citizens to stay away from Kabul airport, where large crowds have gathered in hopes of boarding evacuation flights after the Taliban take over Afghanistan.
