Ground Report | New Delhi: Journalist Avinash Jha killed; The half-burnt body of a local journalist who complained against nursing homes and hospitals has been found in Madhubani district of Bihar. The relatives allege that the hospital operators have got him murdered.

Jha (23), who lived near Lohia Chowk in Benipatti, was a web portal reporter. On the night of November 9, four people kidnapped her near her house. On Friday (November 12), his burnt body was found lying in a bush between Pali and Urain villages. The Times of India reported that the body was handed over to his family members after the postmortem on Saturday.

Sources in Bihar Police revealed that the autopsy report of Avinash Jha shows that he died four days back. Now after recovering the body of the journalist, the Benipatti police has registered an FIR against unknown people and registered an investigation into the matter. Benipatti SHO Arvind Kumar has confirmed that the police is probing from all possible angles, including the murder. He assured that the culprits will be identified and action will be taken soon.

A policeman told that the young journalist-RTI activist was strangled to death. It was revealed in the postmortem. Family members identified the body on the basis of a ring on one of his fingers, a mole on his leg and the burnt remains of the red shirt, which he was wearing on November 9.

Avinash Jha's brother Chandrashekhar Kumar Jha had approached the police after his family tried to locate him at every possible place, but he could not be traced. They found that both his mobile phones were also switched off. Following this, his brother approached the police and alleged that his brother, Buddhinath Jha alias Avinash Jha, has been kidnapped. Jha had allegedly filed an RTI petition and written articles against hospitals, clinics and other medical establishments operating illegally in his locality. Several establishments operating without valid licenses were shut down by the authorities as Jha sent petitions against them to the Madhubani district magistrate.

Meanwhile, Jha's disappearance created a ruckus on social media. After this, on Friday, his cousin BJ Vikas got a call that a dead body was found near the state highway passing through Betun village.

As a result, some relatives along with the administration reached the spot where the body was identified with ring on his finger, mark on his leg and chain around his neck.

There is a lot of outrage in the area over the incident. The reason for this is that the incident happened only at a distance of 300-400 meters from the police station area.
