SRINAGAR: Polling in the second phase of the four-phase local civic body elections in Jammu and Kashmir began at 6 am Wednesday amid tight security.
A total of 384 wards in 13 districts are in the fray in the second phase of elections. Seven of these districts fall in the valley. As many as 1000 candidates are contesting in the second phase.
While mobile Internet services have been suspended in Kashmir parts. It has been downgraded to 2G in other parts of the valley.
Owing to the low voter turnout in the first phase on Monday, timings for voting have been changed from 7 am to 6 am for beginning and voting will end at 4 pm. The civic polls are being held after a gap of 13 years in the state.
