Jitendra Narayan Tyagi arrested in Dharma Sansad case

Ground Report | New Delhi: Jitendra Narayan Tyagi alias Waseem Rizvi, who made poisonous statements against Muslims in the alleged Parliament of Religions held in Haridwar, has been arrested by Haridwar Police on Thursday.

Shia Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi, who has been commenting against Islam for a long time, recently abandoned Islam and accepted Hinduism. Wasim Rizvi, who came into the spotlight for his book against Islam, later became known as Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi. Jitendra Tyagi himself and some other people were arrested for making poisonous statements against Muslims at a so-called religious parliament in Haridwar.

In connection with the same case, while he was arriving in Haridwar today, Haridwar police stopped him at the Narsan border. After taking custody, the police arrived at Haridwar Kotwali with Waseem Rizvi.

The Dharma Sansad was organized from December 17-19 at Ved Niketan located in Kharkhari. A case was filed against Jitendra Narayan Tyagi alias Waseem Rizvi and others after the video of him giving poisonous speeches against Muslims went viral.

Jwalapur resident Gulbahar Khan had filed a case against Shia Waqf board chairman Jitendra Narayan Tyagi alias Waseem Rizvi. Later the names of four saints were also added to the judgment.

Dharma Sansad event

Another participant of the Dharma Sansad event warned the Haridwar administration that they would vandalize hotels and commercial establishments where Christmas celebrations are held. Another speaker can be heard targeting religious minorities.

Swami Prabodhanand Giri, president of the Hindu Raksha Sena, a right-wing organisation based out of Uttarakhand said “Like Myanmar, our police, our politicians, our Army and every Hindu must pick up weapons and conduct this “Safaayi Abhiyan”. There is no other option left”.

Annapurna Maa, Mahamandleshwar of Niranjini Akhada, and General Secretary of Hindu Mahasabha said: “If you want to eliminate them, kill them… we need 100 soldiers who can kill 20 million to win this”.

Sagar Sindhuraj Maharaj said: “I keep repeating again and again that keep 5000 rupee mobile but buy a 1 lakh rupee weapon. You should at least have sticks and swords.”

Sindhu Sagar Swami: “advises people to buy lands owned by Muslims & make village free of Muslims. He boasts of him trapping at least 10 Muslims in FAKE SC/ST act cases & asks more people to do the same. Says, Yati’s followers are giving arms training to youth.”

Who is Syed Wasim Rizvi

Wasim Rizvi is a former chairman of the Shia Central Board of Waqf in Uttar Pradesh. He is known for filing a controversial petition in Supreme Court, as well as producing the Bollywood film Ram Ki Janmabhoomi.

The son of a second-class railway employee, Rizvi never completed college. He was elected councillor of the Samajwadi Party (SP) from the Kashmiri Mohalla ward of the old city of Lucknow in 2000 and became a member of the Shia Waqf Board in 2008.

In 2012, Rizvi was expelled from the SP for six years after an altercation with Shia cleric Kalbe Jawad, who accused him of money laundering. After this the Shia Waqf Board was also dissolved. But later Rizvi was relieved by the court and reinstated.
