Army Chief General MM Narwane said on Saturday that militants are trying to infiltrate in Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt the District Development Council elections. He said that Terrorist from across the border remains a serious threat and all efforts are being made to stop it but still it is not ending.

He said this is the first election in the Union Territory since most of the provisions of Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir were scrapped and the first phase of the District Development Council election saw around 52 percent turnout on Saturday.

The army chief said this during the passing out parade of the Indian Naval Academy in Kerala on Saturday.

He said that Pakistan is making every effort to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir and disturb normal democratic activities. He said that Pakistan is making desperate efforts to send 'terrorists' along the Line of Control in the winter season.

General Narwane said, "Terrorism continues to be a serious challenge in the current situation on our western borders. Despite all efforts, this challenge is not diminishing."

He said, 'Today the country is facing challenges from all sides, some are domestic and some are external. Armed forces are the strongest pillar in the defense of the country".

He added When everything can fail, we cannot. There is no runner-up in war. At every challenge, the country expects us whether it is a war, a natural disaster, a law and order situation or a diplomatic campaign.

In fact, Pakistan has been completely overwhelmed by the strengthening democracy of the District Development Council (DDC) elections for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. The infiltration of terrorists on the Pakistani Army Line of Control (LoC) is firing with the intention of infiltrating.

The Pakistan Army continued heavy shelling for the second consecutive day on Friday targeting the Kerry Battal area adjoining Sunderbani in Rajouri district and Akhnoor sector in Jammu. Responding to Pakistani shelling, two army soldiers were sacrificed.
