Ahead of Biden presidency, Israel PM cautions against return to Iran deal

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at an annual memorial event for Israel’s first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, the Israeli PM said that President Trump end the nuclear agreement with Iran in 2015 that should not be restored.

"There can be no going back to the previous nuclear agreement. We must stick to an uncompromising policy of ensuring that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu said.

This nuclear deal took place in 2015 during the tenure of Barack Obama and then Biden was the Vice President. It is clear that Biden also agreed to this agreement.

Biden will take over command of the US on 20 January. Biden said that if Iran accepts the strict restrictions on uranium enrichment and is ready to work with allies, then the nuclear agreement can be restored.

Under this agreement, many powerful countries of the world agreed on the condition of limiting Iran's nuclear program. In return, Iran was exempted from economic sanctions.

But Trump ended this deal with Iran after coming to power. Trump said that Iran has neither stopped the ballistic missile program nor stopped supporting rebels in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yeme

The Israeli PM said that the nuclear agreement with Iran should not be returned. Netanyahu said that he should be strict about Iran so that it does not make nuclear weapons.

But the deal, abandoned by Trump in 2018, did not restrict Iran`s ballistic missile programme nor its support for militia in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, which Washington sees as destabilising to the Middle East.

"There must be no return to the previous nuclear agreement. We must stick to an uncompromising policy to ensure that Iran does not develop nuclear weapons," Netanyahu said in a speech in southern Israel.

He did not mention Biden directly, but his comments were widely interpreted by Israeli media as a message to the incoming president not to bring the United States back into the agreement.

Although the Israeli PM did not take Biden's name, but everyone understood that Netanyahu is apprehensive about the nuclear program after Biden's arrival.
