Cow exhales oxygen in India

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday urged the Central government to bring a Bill in Parliament for “protection of cows” and to declare “cow protection as a fundamental right of Hindus”. He also said that cow is the only animal that inhales oxygen and exhales oxygen too’. He is not the only one who believes that. let's check from where this belief originated in Indian society.

Interesting Facts about cow

Fact 1:  No, not only cow all animals (and even humans) exhale some amount of oxygen that they breathe. The inhaled air comprises 21 percent of oxygen while 16 percent of oxygen is present in exhaled air. So While it is true that cows do exhale oxygen, but this is not exclusive to cows. This is applicable to all of us!

Fact2 : Cows actually have one stomach with 4 compartments. They belong to a group of animals called ruminants– animals who have 4 stomach compartments.

Fact 3: Human Genes and cow genes are 80% similar. Researchers from the National Institutes of Health and the US Department of Agriculture discovered that every cow has around 22,000 genes, and 80% of those match with ones found in the human body.

Fact 4: A cow can walk upstairs, but it wouldn’t be able to walk back down again afterwards. This is purely down to the fact that the joints in their knees don’t bend the right way, so wouldn’t allow it!

Fact 5: Cow eat around 40 pounds of food each day and wash it down with 38 gallons of water! 

Fact 6: Indian Government's own animal census shows that the cow and buffalo population has grown - a 6.75% increase between 2007 and 2012 - and cow slaughter is banned in most states.
