Ground Report | New Delhi: Indian women's hockey team; The Indian women's hockey team lost 2-1 to Argentina in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics. In the semi-finals, Indian women played a brilliant game against world No. 2 Argentina but could not make it to the finals. Now the Indian team will take on Britain for the bronze medal, which the Netherlands defeated 5-1 in the second semi-final.

The final Olympic hockey will be played between Netherlands and Argentina. As soon as the semi-final match started, the Indian team showed its aggressive approach and took the lead in the second minute itself. Gurjit Kaur scored from the penalty corner for India.

After this, the Argentine team started attacking the Indian goal continuously. Argentina got a penalty corner in the 7th minute but failed to score. After this, Argentina once again made a good move in the 12th minute, which was thwarted by Indian defender Sushila Chanu.

Sushila Chanu was also instrumental in stopping Australia from scoring in the quarter-finals. Argentina equalized in the second quarter, then India took a 2-1 lead.

In the first quarter, the Indian team was ahead 1-0, but as soon as the game of the second quarter started, the Argentine players started making quick moves. Due to this, Argentina got a penalty corner in the third minute, and converting it into a goal, they leveled the match at 1-1.

After this both the teams kept attacking each other's D. Indian women got two consecutive penalty corners in the 24th and 25th minutes of the match. The Indian team failed to convert both the chances into goals.

The very next minute the field umpire gave another penalty corner against Argentina but on review, the third umpire dismissed it. Soon after, in the 27th minute, Argentina got a penalty corner but the Indian defender thwarted it once again.

In the second quarter, both the teams got opportunities to score through penalty corners but they could not score any goal and the score was tied at 1-1. Argentina's team continued to attack in the third quarter and they got two consecutive penalty corners in the 41st minute of the match.

Argentina's team managed to score on the second penalty corner. With this Argentina took a 2-1 lead. After this, the Indian players made some good moves but they failed to convert them into goals. After the end of the third quarter, Argentina's team was ahead 2–1 in the match and this lead was maintained till the end of the match.
