This is India's ninth-lowest score in an innings of Test cricket. England bowlers James Anderson and Craig Overton bowled brilliantly and took three wickets each.

James Anderson took three wickets for just six runs and it was due to his sharp bowling that India's top order collapsed. India leads 1-0 in the five-Test series. The first test was a draw, while the second test was won by India.

On the first day of the third Test at Headingley, India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. But his decision proved to be wrong when opener KL Rahul got out without scoring any runs.

After that the process of falling wickets started, it did not stop. It can be gauged from this that the biggest partnership in the Indian innings was for the fourth wicket, which was 35 runs. The score of only two players reached double digits and they were Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane. Rohit scored 19 and Rahane made 18. Apart from these, 16 extra runs contributed to India's score of 78.

The worst moment of the Indian innings was when India lost four wickets at the score of 67 runs. India lost its sixth wicket for 67 runs and on this score, India's nine wickets had fallen.

Three players could not even open their accounts. These were KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah. Captain Virat Kohli scored seven runs and Ishant Sharma scored eight runs. James Anderson and Craig Overton took the most three wickets each for England. Ollie Robinson and Sam Karen took two wickets each.

This is India's ninth-lowest score in Test cricket. India's minimum score in an innings of Test cricket is 36 runs. In December 2020, India's team was dismissed for 36 runs in the Test against Australia in Adelaide.
