Ground Report | New Delhi: India vs Pakistan four-nation series; Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Rameez Raja is considering a proposal for a four-nation T20 series to boost international matches between Pakistan and India.
According to the sports website code, the potential series will include teams from Pakistan and India, as well as Australia and England. In an interview with Code, the former Pakistani cricketer assured of the biggest cricket festival in the world and urged the Australian players to attend the upcoming tour of Pakistan to appreciate the sentiments of Pakistani cricket fans.
Australia is scheduled to visit Pakistan for three Tests, three ODIs, and a T20I match starting in early March. Cricket Australia is committed to its first tour since 1998.
Rameez Raja said that there are high expectations in Pakistan before the Australian tour and he was happy with the recent comments of Usman Khawaja, an Australian born in Pakistan, that he was privately requesting his colleagues to visit Pakistan.
Rameez Raja said he was thinking of proposing a four-nation rugby six-nation series in which Pakistan, India, Australia, and England would take part. He said: “I was thinking maybe I should come up with this idea at the ICC meeting.”
Speaking to Code, he added: “If India and Pakistan are not ready to play bilaterally, then include them in the four-nation [event], and thus every year the tournament is played between England, Australia, Pakistan and He can go to India.
He said he would definitely recommend it. India last hosted Pakistan in a bilateral series in 2013 and now the teams only face each other in world tournaments. The most recent match was the Super 12 match of T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai in which Pakistan won by 10 wickets.
Last year, due to security concerns, the New Zealand cricket team came to the country and canceled the tour of Pakistan without playing a match. After New Zealand, England also canceled its tour, which disappointed the cricket fans in the country.
