According to the information given on the website of the Global Hunger Index, 18 countries, including China, Brazil, and Kuwait, have topped the list with GHI scores of less than five. Through this index, the achievements and failures of the campaign against hunger are depicted around the world. The report has been prepared jointly by Ireland's aid agency Concern Worldwide and Germany's organization Welt Hunger Hilfe. The report has raised concerns about the level of hunger in India

In the year 2020, India was ranked 94 in the list of 107 countries. According to the report, India's GHI score has come down. It was 38.8 in the year 2000, which decreased to 28.8-27.5 between 2012 and 2021. The GHI score is determined on the basis of four indicators – undernutrition, child wasting (children under five who are underweight for their height, indicating acute malnutrition), child stunting (under five years of age). children who are short for age, indicating chronic malnutrition) and child mortality (mortality rate of children under five years of age).

Higher GHI means there is more problem of hunger in that country. Similarly, if the score of a country is low, it means that the situation is better there. The report says, "The restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 epidemic in India have had a serious impact on the people."

Eighteen countries, including China, Brazil, and Kuwait, shared the top rank, the website of the Global Hunger Index, which tracks hunger and malnutrition around the world, reported on Thursday, October 14.
