“In view of the prevailing circumstances, it has been decided that our Ambassador in Kabul and his Indian staff will move to India immediately," Indian foreign ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said in a Twitter post.

However, the government has issued a special visa for refugees from Afghanistan. At present, the embassies of Pakistan, China, and Russia are open in Kabul.

However, after heavy crowds and chaos at Kabul International Airport on Sunday and Monday, military flights have been resumed once again to evacuate diplomats and civilians. All types of flights were stopped from the airport on Monday.

Thousands of people arrived at Kabul airport on Monday trying to leave Afghanistan after the Taliban's capture of Kabul late Sunday evening. Several people were seen running on the runway and competing to enter the plane.

Due to this, there was a stampede and five people died. It is not yet clear whether he was shot or died due to the stampede. However, officials have said that there is peace at the airport on Tuesday as compared to Monday.

"Many people who came here yesterday have now gone back home," a security official told Reuters news agency. However, citing eyewitnesses, Reuters said that still intermittent shots were heard from the airport side. At present, this airport is the only way out of Afghanistan for Western armies.

What happened in Afghanistan so far

  • After the Taliban's capture in Kabul, thousands of people reached Kabul airport in an attempt to escape from there. Due to this a situation of stampede was created there. According to the reports, five people have died at the airport due to the stampede.
  • Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has said that in view of the current situation in Afghanistan, it has been decided to bring back the Indian Ambassador and Embassy staff present in Kabul to India immediately.
  • The US and Britain have sent special troops to evacuate their citizens from Afghanistan. Britain has sent 200 soldiers and the US has sent 1,000 additional soldiers to Afghanistan.
  • US President Joe Biden backed the decision to withdraw his troops from the US and acknowledged that the situation in Afghanistan has turned out to be faster than expected.
  • On Monday, the US military took control of the airport and restarted it after all flights to and from Kabul airport were cancelled.
  • Biden warned that the US would "defend its people with all destructive power" if the Taliban attacked American troops. Biden has said that the US will continue to help Afghanistan and will continue diplomatic efforts at the provincial level to ensure that violence and instability do not occur.
