In 6 months, Mehbooba made Rs 82 lakh worth purchases as CM

From January to June 2018, former chief minister of Jammu and kashmir and People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) vice president Mehbooba Mufti spent Rs 82 lakh on beautifying his official residence, according to RTI documents. During his tenure as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, he was renovating his residence on Gupkar Road in Srinagar. According to RTI documents, the money was spent by the central government.

The information was released by Kashmir-based activist Inam-un-Nabi Soudagar, under the Right to Information Act. This amount was spent on bed sheets, home appliances, TVs and other furniture.

On March 28, 2018, Mehbooba spent Rs 28 lakh to buy a carpet at home. In June alone, Rs 25 lakh was spent on LED TVs and other items worth Rs 22 lakh.

On January 30, 2018, goods worth Rs 14 lakh were purchased. Of this, the cost of an umbrella installed in the garden is shown as Rs. 2,94,314. Bedsheets worth Rs 11,62,000 were purchased on February 22, 2018. In March of the same year, the cost of home appliances was Rs 25 lakh and the carpet Rs 28 lakh and Rs 56 lakh.

During the two-year period from August 2016 to July 2018, 40 lakh cutlery products were procured.

In June 2018 alone, she spent more than Rs 25 lakh on different items, including Rs 22 lakh on LED TVs. A copy of the RTI reply received on September 1, 2020, showed an expenditure of Rs 14 lakh on January 30, 2017. It includes a Garden Umbrella of Rs 2,94,314. The RTI reply shows that on February 22, 2018, a bedsheet of Rs 11,62,000 was purchased.

In March 2018, Mufti spent around Rs 56 lakhs, including Rs 25 lakhs on furniture and about Rs 28 lakhs on carpets. Purchased items include cutlery items worth Rs 40 lakhs over a period of two years from August 2016 to July 2018.

Purchases also include cutlery items worth Rs 40 lakh in a period of two years from August 2016 to July 2018. This was also the period when Mehbooba Mufti was the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
It may be mentioned here that PDP-BJP had formed coalition Government in March 2015 which was headed by PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
