The match between India and Pakistan is considered to be the biggest match in the world of cricket. Let's take a look at the history of the first matches between the two countries in all three formats of cricket.

History of India-Pakistan on cricket field?

Pakistan v India: First Test

The first cricket Test between India and Pakistan was played between 16 and 18 October 1952, five years after the partition of India. This was also Pakistan's first Test. The match, played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in New Delhi, featured players like Abdul Hafeez Kardar and Amir Elahi, who had previously played for India.

India won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 382 runs. India's Hemo Adhikari scored 81 runs while the last man Ghulam Ahmed scored 50 runs for the tenth wicket with a partnership of 109 runs.

In reply, Pakistan's opener Hanif Mohammad played an innings of 51 runs and walked to the pavilion. Pakistan's entire team managed to score 150 runs and India's left-arm bowler Venu Mankad made eight runs for 52 runs.

Following on, the Pakistani team once again lost five wickets while facing Munkad and the entire team was bowled out for 150 runs. India won the match by an innings and 70 runs.

Pakistan v India: First ODI

The first ODI between the two teams was played on October 1, 1978. In the Test series played before this match, Pakistan had won 0-2. After which the first series of three ODIs was played between the two teams.

The first match of the series was played in Quetta. This match was also the first match of India's famous player Kapil Dev. Batting first, India scored 170 for seven in 40 overs. Mahendra Amarnath remained the top scorer with 51 runs.

In reply, the Pakistani team had confidence at the start and despite losing just one wicket for 82 runs, the entire team lost eight wickets for 166 runs. Pakistan also lost this match.

The first T20 between Pakistan and India

The two rivals first appeared in the T20 on September 14, 2007, in Durban, South Africa. The group match ended in a tie when both teams scored 141 runs in the allotted overs. After which the winner of this match was to be decided through 'Ballout'.

In this match, Muhammad Asif of Pakistan bowled out four players for 18 runs. After which Pakistan's access to the next round was ensured but Pakistan batsman Misbah-ul-Haq who was playing for 53 runs got out on the last ball.

In the bowling out phase, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Rubin Uthappa all took wickets successfully but Pakistan's Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul, and Shahid Afridi failed to hit their target. The next match between the two teams was in the final of the same tournament in Johannesburg, South Africa in which India won by five runs.
