New Delhi: About 3000 research scholars from across the country gathered on 16th January at MHRD to protest against the government. They have been demanding hike in their fellowship amount from past several months now. Despite having all the required permissions for protest Delhi police has booked many protesters.
Sources said that Subramanian Swamy, Rajya Sabha MP, refused to listen to the matter and Human Resource Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar is in Bengaluru. This isn’t the first time that the researchers were on road to protest for their demands. They have previously met ministers, officials and handed them memorandums. But after months of no action researchers decided to protest in front of MHRD on 16 January.
Meanwhile, a ‘Hike in Research Fellowship 2018’, a facebook page wrote a post along with a picture of protesters in outside police station, the post said ‘Indian brain in jail…..Wah modi ji wah…where is the policy makers?? Where is science booster faculties? Where is make in India??’
