Ground Report | New Delhi: Highest number of dengue cases; Dengue is spreading rapidly in Delhi every week. According to the report shared by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, 480 dengue cases have been registered till October 9 this year. At the same time, a total of 139 dengue patients have been reported in the last week. Talking about the past years, from January to this time in 2019, 467 cases were reported and in 2020 316 total cases were reported. That is, this time the maximum number of cases have been found as compared to the last 2 years.

Dengue, malaria spread more during the summer and rainy season. When infected with dengue, the number of platelets of the patient starts decreasing. Dengue fever causes pain in the head, muscles, and joints, while there is a pain in the back of the eyes, weakness, loss of appetite, pain in the throat.

Danger of Dengue, Malaria and Chikungunya

Apart from dengue, 127 and 62 cases of malaria and chikungunya have been registered in Delhi. However, no patient has died due to dengue, malaria, and chikungunya in Delhi so far.

In the years 2016 and 2017, there were 10-10 deaths due to dengue. There were 4, 2, and 1 death in 2018, 2019, and 2020. According to the report, a total of 141 cases have been reported in the Southern Municipal Corporation, while 114 cases have been registered in the Northern Corporation area and 56 in the Eastern Corporation area.

Highest number of dengue cases

Actually dengue mosquitoes breed in clean and stagnant water, whereas malaria mosquitoes breed in dirty water too. Talking about the cases so far this year, no dengue case was reported in Delhi in the month of January, while 2 on February, 5 in March, 10 in April were registered. Actually, dengue and chikungunya mosquitoes do not travel very far. However, there may be trouble for people living within 50 meters of the stagnant water.

Delhi Municipal Corporation officials say dengue cases are on the rise in the city as the weather is favorable for the breeding of mosquitoes. The weather is neither cold now nor too hot. In such weather, the breeding of dengue mosquitoes is happening rapidly. Research conducted a few years ago said that about six million people are affected by dengue every year in India but these are not recorded.
