High-level meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues

Ground Report | New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's high-level meeting with the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir is going on. In this meeting, 14 leaders of 8 parties of Jammu and Kashmir have participated. After which now this important meeting has started. Sources said that there is no official agenda of the meeting and it will be an independent discussion. 

However, the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir have indicated that they will press for Article 370 and the restoration of full statehood.  Here are the first images from the meeting where Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and greeted the political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir.

Nearly two years after the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked, the Prime Minister is all set to chair an all-party meeting of leaders of the Valley in New Delhi.

This is the first initiative of the Center since the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two union territories. The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), a group of five parties in Jammu and Kashmir, has confirmed its participation in the meeting and its leaders have reached the Delhi meeting.

Mehbooba Mufti, the chief of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a constituent of PAGD, arrived in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon and is staying at the Jammu and Kashmir House. National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah will also attend the meeting (high-level).  

However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has hit out at the central government and asked what was the need to "snatch away" Jammu and Kashmir's statehood. "If you take away people's Azadi (freedom), then all is lost. This was of no use for the nation. The country's name has been tarnished due to such autocracy," Mamata Banerjee said.
