Helang Village struggling for fodder
On Friday, some women of Helang village of Joshimath block were returning from their pasture after collecting charapatti for the animals. Then the eyes of the women fell on the debris lying there. After which the women started fighting in front of the police and forest department personnel stationed there carrying a load of hay on their backs. Police, CISF and Tehsil administration removed the protesting women from there and dumped the debris.
The company which is working here has filed a case against these women. Action has been taken against them under sections 107, 116.
This land of his has been taken on lease by the company for the construction of the project and now construction work is going on here.
Let us tell you that the people of Helang village are struggling for the last one month to save their pasture. These villagers have grown trees and plants with great effort on this land. From here they take fodder for their animals. The company making the tunnel has taken this land on lease from the villagers. But here there is talk of building a secretariat and playground. For this, debris is being dumped at this place. Due to this, there is a crisis of fodder for the animals of these rural areas.
Truth of Grassland encroachment
Actually Helang is the meeting point of Alaknanda and Kalganga. The Tapovan Vishnugad project ends here.
A lot of debris comes out after tunneling for which a dumping ground is needed. It is believed that in the name of making a playground, this debris will be dumped in the pasture of Helang. Trees planted by people will get buried in the rubble. It is situated on a slope, so when the water rises, this debris will flow into the river.
Let us tell you that it is illegal to throw debris in the river, but often companies keep breaking this law. However they impose fines on women bringing grass for their animals.
