Ground Report | New Delhi: Heavy Rainfall in Uttarakhand; The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy rain in the state for Tuesday. In the earlier warning, a red alert was also declared on 19 October. The weather is expected to improve slightly in the state from Wednesday, but the cold will continue.

Heavy Rainfall in Uttarakhand

In many districts of the state, the temperature has gone down significantly after the rain. Especially in Champawat, Pancheshwar Bastia, Lohaghat, Champawat, Tanakpur, Devidhura, Pati, Banbasa, Pithoragarh, Berinag, Mukteshwar, Nainital, Ramnagar, Haldwani, Kalagarh, Udhamsinghnagar, Khatima, Gularbhoj, Bajpur, Kashipur, Dwarhat, Bageshwar. The entire state received a total of 36.7 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

The state government has advised Chardham pilgrims, who reached Haridwar and Rishikesh later this week, not to visit Himalayan temples until the weather conditions improve.

Continuous rain

Passenger vehicles are not being allowed to cross the Chandrabhaga bridge, Tapovan, Laxman Jhula, and Muni-ki-Reti Bhadrakali barrier in Rishikesh.

Rain continues in Pithoragarh, more than 15 roads including NH were closed. The water level of rivers is increasing. Due to the rising water levels of the Kali and Gori rivers in Jauljibi, the fairground is flooded.

In Nachni, the water level of the Ramganga river has reached close to the houses of the settlement. The road is closed at two places between Ghat to Pithoragarh in NH. The work of removing the debris is going on, due to the rain, there is no possibility of opening the NH as soon as the debris is removed.

The water level of the rivers is rising rapidly due to the continuous rain for the last 36 hours. The water level of Kathgodam Gaula barrage reached the level of 89000 cusecs at 6 am on Tuesday.

The state's climatological table shows that the month of October usually receives about 50 hours of rainfall in the state. The average rainfall in October has been 44.4 mm. The highest rainfall in the month of October in recent years was recorded in 2014 at 106.1 mm. The highest rainfall during 24 hours was also recorded in 2014 itself at 49.1 mm on 1 October.
