Hathras case: CBI admits gang rape and murder of Dalit girl, chargesheet filed

The CBI has filed a charge sheet on Friday in the gang rape and murder case of a Dalit girl in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. CBI officials have also imposed gang rape and murder sections on the four accused, Sandeep, Lavkush, Ravi and Ramu, for the crime committed with the 19-year-old girl.

Investigating officer Seema Pahuja filed the charge sheet on behalf of the CBI team. In this case, an FIR was lodged on behalf of the victim's brother. In the charge sheet filed in the Hathras case, the CBI has framed a case against the four accused under the sections of gang rape, murder, molestation and SC-ST. Advocate Munna Singh Pundir said that a charge sheet has been filed against the four accused.

The CBI was investigating the case under the supervision of Allahabad High Court and the authorities investigated the role of accused Sandeep, Lavkush, Ravi and Ramu in the entire case. The four accused are currently in judicial custody. CBI officials said that all four were also tested separately at Forensic Science Laboratory in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The Hathras gang rape case came up for discussion not only because of the brutality of the criminals, but also in the Uttar Pradesh police, without the permission of the family of the deceased and there was a dispute over his funeral in his absence.

In this case, apart from the UP Police, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh was also severely criticized. Later, the Uttar Pradesh government had told the court that the girl was cremated in a hurry for fear of 'deteriorating the state of the judicial system'. The 19-year-old girl belonged to a Dalit family while the four accused belong to the so-called upper caste.

In this case, the UP government had talked about getting narco test of the family of the victim, which also had a lot of controversy because the narco test is usually from the accused party.

A Special Investigation Committee (SIT) was finally formed after allegations of lewd attitude on the state government and administration. However, the responsibility of investigation was later handed over to the CBI.
