This is the same Mullah Akhund who had destroyed the Buddha statues in Bamiyan in 2001. Before Mullah Hassan, there was speculation that Abdul Ghani Baradar, the head of the Taliban's political office in Doha, Qatar, might get the command of Afghanistan. Mullah Akhund was deputy foreign minister in the previous Taliban regime in Afghanistan and was named on the UN blacklist.

"The new government of Afghanistan is dominated by the terrorist organization Haqqani Network and the Kandahar-focused Taliban group in the new cabinet, while the Doha-based Taliban group that started international talks and also contacted New Delhi, it has been put aside. Of the 33 in the new Taliban cabinet, 20 are from the Kandahar-focused Taliban group and the Haqqani network.

Earlier, there was no consensus on forming a government under the leadership of the Taliban. Then General Faiz Hamid, the head of the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, reached Kabul, and three days after his arrival, the Taliban announced the top leadership of the new government.

Haqqani Headache for India

What is worrying India is also the dominance of the radical Haqqani network in the government. Sirajuddin Haqqani, the head of the Haqqani network, has become the Home Minister. The Haqqani network is a favorite of the ISI and has been named in several terror attacks against India. The same organization was also blamed for the 2008 attack on the Indian Embassy in Kabul.

Apart from this, Sirajuddin Haqqani, the enemy of India, has been elected as the Home Minister. He is the head of the Haqqani network which is responsible for the 2008 terrorist attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul, as well as several anti-India attacks in 2009-10.

The new prime minister, Mullah Mohammad Hassan, is on the UN terrorist list and is one of the 30 original Taliban. He worked for the Taliban's hardline decision-making body Rahbari Shura for 20 years and is close to Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, the current Taliban leader.

He was Foreign Minister and Deputy PM in the previous government of Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001 and has also been the Governor of Kandahar. So much love for Pakistan is evident from the fact that he has studied in many madrasas of Pakistan.
