Ground report | New Delhi: Gurgaon Namaz row; The controversy over Friday prayers in Gurgaon, an area adjacent to national capital Delhi, is not going away. According to reports, there was a commotion in Sector 47 of the city for several weeks regarding prayers and now recently something similar has been seen at Sector 12-AK Chowk.

Gurgaon Namaz row

The videos are viral on social media and hotly debated, with 'As A Hindu', 'Namaz', and actress Swara Bhaskar also trending. According to a report of the Indian Express, during Friday prayers in Sector 12-A, Gurgaon, about three dozen protesters reached the place where the prayers were being offered. Some of them belonged to the hardline Hindu organization Bajrang Dal.

The police have been told that demonstrators slogans 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Bharat Mata' during the prayer. Protesters said "non-locals" were praying in the square "illegally".

The protesters have threatened that if the prayers are offered at the same place next Friday, an 'unpleasant incident' may take place and it will be the responsibility of the administration.

The newspaper quoted police sources and the district administration as saying that the place for prayers in Sector 12-A was chosen with the consent of the people living there.

This is not the first incident

This is not the first time that protests against Friday prayers have been staged in Gurgaon and demonstrations by hardline Hindus. There have been similar demonstrations before. It may be recalled that on May 18, 2018, the administration had approved prayers at 37 places in Gurgaon after discussions with both Hindu and Muslim communities.

Police say prayers have been held there for more than a year and so far there has been no problem. But the protesters claimed that the administration had only allowed prayers for one day on the condition that it would not cause any inconvenience to the locals.

A resident of Rajiv Nagar has lodged a written complaint with the police in this regard, which has the signatures of several protesters. The letter claimed that people who are not residents of nearby areas have been offering prayers at Sector 12-AK Chowk for some time now. The letter said they "doubt whether these people are Bangladeshis or Rohingya." Their ID cards should be checked and a written list should be made.

A similar dispute over prayers has been going on in Sector 47 of Gurgaon for the past one month, but after continuous efforts of the police and administration and deployment of security forces, prayers are now being offered peacefully.

Muslims in India

Since then, many people have expressed similar views. Leading US-based historian Audrey Trishki wrote: "As a Hindu" is actually trending because a Hindu has raised his voice against the persecution of Muslims in India.

Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online. Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online.

Along with this, he has given many explanations in this regard, how Hindus are being defined in the year 2021, which is very different. In response to Audrey Trusky, many have written, "As a Hindu, I do not need your advice."

After actress Swara Bhaskar's tweet, she has been trolled in most of the tweets. She has been targeted by the right because of her position in the past. Many people have written that they are Hindus only for one day and even that day to say that I am ashamed to be a Hindu. Many people have written that they are proud to be Hindus and proud to chant the slogan 'Jai Shri Ram.
