The health ministry claimed as ‘incorrect’ the news report by a section of media alleging that the Centre has not placed any fresh order for Covid-19 vaccines.

PIB A release issued by the media has denied the ongoing news in the media, claiming that since March, the Center has not given any new order for the corona vaccine.

In some media reports, it has been alleged that the Center has not given any new order regarding covid 19 vaccines. These reports said that the final order was placed in March 2021 to two vaccine manufacturers of the country (Serum Institute 100 and Bharat Biotech 20 million).

It has been said in the release that this news going on in the media is completely wrong and is not based on any true facts.

In this press release issued by PIB, it is said that it is clarified that Rs.1732.50 crore has been given to the Serum Institute by issuing hundred percent advance. This amount was released on 28 April 2021, for an additional 11 crore doses of covishield.

Apart from this, Bharat Biotech has been given Rs 787.50 crore for five crore vaccine giving 100 percent advance. Therefore, to say that the Government of India has not given any order for vaccines since March is not correct.

The Serum Institute of India has also supported this by tweeting.

The tweet states that- "We support the authenticity of this statement and information." We have been working closely with the Government of India for the last one year and also thank them for the support of the Government of India. We are committed to increasing the production of our vaccines to save people's lives."
