Commercial flight services are expected to resume resume soon in India. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Tuesday that whenever domestic passenger flights start, the scale of operations will be far below the level at which they had stopped at the end of March.

Hardeep Singh Puri has said that initially 25 per cent of the flights can be operational. After this it will gradually increase by 10 percent.

What is the plan?

  • Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) shared an exit plan and said commercial passenger flights at Indira Gandhi International airport in the national capital will initially operate from Terminal 3.Line 2
  • According to a plan, the passengers of Vistara and IndiGo would enter airport through gates 1 and 2 only. These two airlines will have check-in rows A, B and C among them.
  • AirAsia India and Air India passengers will use entry gates 3 and 4.
  • However passengers will then go to rows D, E and F where the staff of these two airlines would assist them check-in, according to the plan.
  • SpiceJet and GoAir passengers would enter through gate 5 towards the staff of these two airlines at rows G and H for check-in.

Here are key things that you need to know

Terminal Entry Gates

  • A contactless terminal entry system is put in place to avoid any possible contact between the CISF personnel and the PAX.
  • Temperature screening by CISF with automated thermal cameras at all terminal entry points.
  • Provision of social distancing markers at the terminal entry points.
  • Provision of automatic hand sanitizer dispensers at Terminal Entry points.
  • Contactless ticket/ID check, thermal cameras, automatic hand sanitizers and social distance markings at terminal entry for.

Temperature scan

  • The Airport is making provisions for passenger scanning as per guidelines issued by the government.
  • Social Distance marking
  • Passenger will find floor markings on kerbside and in-terminal areas to aid social distancing.

Sanitization at airport

All areas including across kerbside and in terminal like trolley, washroom , water fountain, counters, security, screening areas, touch screens, travellators, lifts etc will be disinfected

Measures for airport staff and health and safety

  • Provisions are being made to ensure PPE like masks, gloves, face shields etc are provided for the safety and health of all employees.
  • All staff will be screened at entry gate for temperature.
  • Employee self declaration on weekly basis through an internal APP.
  • Temporary pop up shops for selling, gloves, masks & other PPE.
